Have you ever heard the term Athletic Therapist and thought “I’m not an athlete. I don’t think this type of therapy is for me”?
This is the most common misconception about Athletic Therapy!
While yes, Athletic Therapists (ATs) do treat high level athletes, ATs are trained to treat all injuries to muscles, bones, ligaments and joints.
These are injuries that we ALL experience – especially those from daily life.
Athletic Therapy is just as beneficial to someone who rolled their ankle stepping off a curb as it is to someone who sprained a ligament playing sports.
One difference between Athletic Therapists and Physiotherapists? ATs can specifically customize your treatment plan to meet your needs and capabilities and work on your body hands on.
Treatments typically involve exercises and stretches to help rehabilitate your injury,
but can also include treatment modalities such as Acupuncture, Cupping, Massage or Shockwave Therapy.
We treat people of all ages. Even teenagers and seniors!
Finally, note that most insurance companies include Athletic Therapy coverage (we may be able to direct bill for you). We also treat patients with MPI or WCB injury claims.
So whatever your goals may be, Athletic Therapy can help get you moving in the right direction. As the saying goes, “You don’t have to be a pro to go”.
If you have any further questions about whether Athletic Therapy is a suitable treatment option for you, don’t hesitate to contact us.
We look forward to seeing you!
