Please be careful out there as we are getting a forecast for a lot of snow into the middle of next week. Remember to get your winter tires installed, and to drive carefully and slowly in slippery conditions like this.
In the event that you are involved in a fender bender or a collision of some sort, and you are injured, this is what we recommend you do:
If you feel you any pain or discomfort, immediately open an injury claim with MPI. This claim is different from the collision claim that covers the cost of any damage to your vehicle. An injury claim will ensure that MPI covers the cost of either Chiropractic, Athletic Therapy, or Physiotherapy at our clinic (it would be your choice who you want to see). An injury claim also ensures that you do not have to pay for treatment out of your pocket. In fact, we bill MPI directly for any treatment claims.
Note also that it is very common to not notice pain or discomfort from an accident immediately. Sometimes you can feel a little shock or disorientation, so the pain may take time to kick in. And sometimes it simply takes the body days or weeks to react. This is very common. So do not be afraid to open a claim accordingly.
What are you looking for? Here are common symptoms felt after a car accident which we will treat:
- Concussions
- Headaches, Dizziness
- Whiplash & Neck Pain
- Middle & Lower Back Pain
- Sciatica & Sacroiliac Pain
- Soft Tissue Injuries
- Shoulder, Arm, Knee & Leg Pain
- In extreme cases, Fractures
Note that when you are injured and are in pain, you can try ice to help with inflammation (heat is an option as well – as is alternating between the two). You can also take an anti-inflammatory as needed.
In general, it is important to not ignore what your body is telling you as these types of injuries, as minor as they may be, can lead to long term problems if not dealt with appropriately.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Drive safe!
